Where to buy CQC-7A-SF or CQC-7A-BT (spearpoint plain blade)?

Hello,

I'm new here and I've come for help finding a knife. My dad is retiring soon and he been wanting an Emerson CQC-7A-SF (preferred) or CQC-7A-BT, so I'd like to get it for him as a retirement gift. This is the spear-point blade without serrations. He doesn't want any other style and I don't think he knows they have been out of production awhile.

I've actually found a two websites that had them for sale, but both times I was informed they were out-of-stock several days after ordering. A new one with black blade but without box/papers showed up on e-bay about three weeks ago and sold for $102.50+$5 shipping, but I didn't even bid because I didn't know at the time they were so hard to find.

The models with serrations seem to be a bit easier to come by but still are pretty scarce. I'm considering getting him a Blackbird or Specwar with non-serrated spearpoint blade instead. They have the same blade style he wants and both are bit bigger which I think he'll appreciate since his hands are quite large. Of course, both of those are also hard to come by.

Any help would be appreciated.

ya should get him an SOCFK imho, a specwar handle w/a '7 blade, IIRC they still make the SP version. IIRC they are cheaper than a '7 to boot.

i'd rather have that than a '7 anyway.

I think the SOCFK version will be easier to come by and the Specwar handle is much nicer IMO...

email me if you want the dealer info.

Hmmmm. The SOCFK doesn't seem to be easy to get either, although I did find one site that claims to have it in stock. Price was $140, which is slightly more expensive than the 3 online stores I've found with Specwar models in stock.

Is there any advantage of the SOCFK-A over the Specwar-A? The specs put the blade at 0.1" shorter on the SOCFK but the blade design is very similar.

I just got confirmation from a live person of a Specwar-A-SF (spearpoint, black handle, plain edge, satin finish) in stock for $123 delivered to my door. It seems pretty reasonable, but I'm hoping an expert will chime in. I'm not sure about the Forum rules on posting links/prices/etc., but if anybody knows of where to buy a CQC-7, Specwar, Blackbird, or SOCFK in spearpoint without serrations, please post or e-mail me.

Buffalohump, I already e-mailed you asking for the dealer info.

the SOCFK is waved and the specwar isnt, i would a LOT more rather have the SOCFK than a specwar for sure. if nothing else re-sale is a lot better on the SOCFK vs the specwar, while i have had several the specwar hasnt ever been a fav of mine.

www.extremeoutfitters.com has them and has the spearpoint and the tanto versions, $139.99.

Thanks. Yes, I saw the SOCFK at Extreme Outfitters. Didn't realize they were the only place to buy it, though. My father doesn't care about the wave feature and resale isn't that important because it's likely going to see alot of hard use. The biggest reason he wants the non-serrated satin-finish version is so he can sharpen it frequently (and man can he put an edge on a knife!).

I went ahead an ordered a SPECWAR-A-SF last night. It was $122.89 shipped and I got a tracking number this morning. Seems like a good price, but I cringe at the merchant (Botach). The fact that I got verification the item was in-stock yesterday morning and I've already got a tracking number is promising, though. If, for some reason, the order doesn't work out, I'll probably just order an SOCFK from Extreme Outfitters.

I'd still appreciate any leads on a CQC-7A-SF or CQC-7A-BT since that's what he really wants, but at least now I've got him a gift I know he'll like. If I can find the CQC, I can always sell/trade/keep the other.

Just thought I'd update that I received the SPECWAR-A-SF from Botach yesterday. I was worried about all of the negative feedback on Botach, but I got the knife just 3 days after ordering and the price was reasonable for a discontinued model. The knife says "2001" on it, BTW.

This is the first time I've actually seen an Emerson in person. It's simple, rugged, and much lighter than I expected given the thickness of the blade.
