It's a beautiful handle material, but I can't find a source for it. Can anyone help? Any suggestions on how to best work this material would be appreciated, as well.

first you need to figure out what kind of birch you are looking for."curly birch" can mean many things and quite a few species of birch. there's yellow birch, pacific northwest white birch, and masur birch, and each have their own charateristics. picture is of pacific northwest birch.

Curly Maple is much more available and in my opinion makes a better handle.This knife is one I made with Maple, Dyed Mahogany and the finish is Cyanoacrylate for a very hard clear finish.
The other knife is Faux Ivory From Koval
