I am wanting to add some of these things to my bag, but you pay more for the shipping, etc than the blasted things are worth. Anyone know of a cheap online source for them OR a chain of stores that might have some available?

Please advise and thank you!

I thought I saw them at tadgear.com ?

Have you tried the REI storm matches? They look similar and perform quite well IMHO, though I haven't tried the lifeboat matches.

i have bought them at cheaper than dirt, sportsmans guide, and brigade quartermaster, they live in the small kits i carry when hunting in the mountains.

i have not used them much, so i cant comment on how they work. usually ihave a bic lighter that has done a good job for me along with some type of tinder likdc cotton balls, or a cube of white stuff i got thwi my strikeforce. works really well even below zero.

Interesting. I looked at one of my sealed containers -- Yep BCB International. Went to their web site [which is VERY cool BTW] and could not find lifeboat matches. Blastmatch, Liquid Fire, etc. but no matches.

i have used them before and i can say that once u drop them in water they still are lit and when u remove them, they are still burning. really works, but u need to use a special method to strike them, which is not box listed. u have to strike the match to light it not draw like conventional safety matches

got mine from tadgear
