Hey gang, I'd like to order silver bullion coins online and had previously bought a few off ebay.
I also saw that places like www.kitco.com carry silver bullion and was wondering if anyone knows what the best option would be for small orders like 1-5 coins.
Mostly looking for reputability and reasonable shipping prices.

If you are looking for just a few, my thought would be to try a local coin shop.

I have been using Bullion Direct for about a year now and have been pleased with their service. You can buy directly from them or through individuals on the Nucleo Exchange. You can buy as much or as little as you want and they have very reasonalbe processing fees.

I have for a number of years been purchasing both silver and gold coins from CNI. As for shipping costs, I can not advise you, as they have minimum purchase limits where they pay total shipping, and so far, I have been able to meet or exceed this sales figures.
I believe you can find them by Googleing "Gold Dealer" I have also tried other of the many firms who advertise on the web, as well as printed medium, and so far have not found any a better price than CNI.
They will sell or purchase any precious metals, Silver, Gold, Platinum, etc., and have many different types you may choose from.

Our local "old timer's" hardware store had a bunch of silver in the showcase prior to the economic crisis. They had a commemorative set that featured a troy oz with each state's name and great seal on the obverse. I always thought they wanted too much for their silver but I liked looking at the stuff. He had a bunch of (overpriced) legal tender silver also. Anyhoo, just after the economic crisis.... Whammo! Sold out. Some silver bug came in and bought it all. Judging from that, I'd say buying silver locally ain't gonna happen. APMEX would probably be your best bet. They have privately minted silver rounds for a few bucks over melt. You need to buy enough, however, to justify the shipping charges. Right now, global demand for precious metals of any kind is thru the roof. The word is out. Paper is poverty. Look for silver to go to fifty by this time next year. And no, I'm not kidding.

I've gotten the best deals by far hitting up local/regional gun shows, then next but not as cheap are the coin/stamp shows.

I have found a few that would sell me silver at the current value with no mark up at all. Then, two rows down a guy is trying to sell for $3 over current price.

Worst of all were the dealers that have brick and mortar coin stores. I know they have to make a living but if I can get silver for cost at a gunshow I'm gonna grab it.

I recall when it was under $4 an ounce a few years back. It was difficult to sell even at a loss. Now, everybody is a "dealer" and the markup can be pretty outrageous. Joe
