I am working on my first knife, and I am going to use elk cuts, but I have a skinner blade that I bought on ebay and need to find somewhere to find some wood for a handle.

Also, would anyone know where to get refractory brick, I can't find any anywhere close, or satanite or similar. I am wanting to make a forge and can't find that stuff. If I can find that I will need to find an anvil also, anyone know where to get one of those?

eBay is the way to go. Search on knife scales, you'll get a million hits! I buy most of mine on there. PM me if you need specific sellers.

firewood pile is good if you won't need to be stabilising it. just chop and rasp to size, and after finishin guse linseed oil. makes a fine working knife handle

Depending on what you've got in mind for price range, you can get great slabs of wood on eBay, at the websites above, or you could hunt up some of your own. Here's an article I like a lot, and recommend often:

Good luck!

I am doing some utility knives for friends and I went to the hardware store and got 1/4" oak. Very nice stuff and cheap.

Thank u all for the advise, I got some wood on ebay, thanks for the link Barkes. And thank everyone oelse for their links also, man, can't wait to get one finished.

Try ebay for wood . Try burl or exotic wood or lumber Theres cords and cords of it around.
