Where to find bigger chunks of micarta?

I'm thinking of using micarta to replace the wood handle on a filipino practice sword (a sansibar) that's got a pinned, hidden tang.

The original wood handle curves back around the pinkie (like an umbrella curve, but tighter), and while I don't have it here with me, I imagine I'd need a piece that's >2"x1.5"x5.5". Most knifemaking suppliers seem to only have thin slabs or at best 1.125"x1.5"x5" blocks.

Do people sell bigger pieces or do I have to contact an industrial source?

Thanks! :)

Send me a E- mail if you wish ive got some "Yellow " micarta that i could cut to that size . Question why not use Water Buffalo ( Calabao) horn instead ?

Thank you, I will.

I have a live counterpart to my practice blade that does have a carabao handle, but I don't think carabao would be too amenable to being repeatedly hit and/or dropped on a concrete floor. That's why I was considering the switch to micarta from wood.

Also, there aren't any carabaos here in the desert, so I'd have to order it anyway. ;)

I have a friend who is a plastics fabricator in Virginia. He sells his left overs and cut offs on ebay. He occasionaly has large thick stock. I just recently purchased 38 lbs of 3/16 thick black paper micarta from him and it cost me $33 shipped. Let me know if you want his email address.

I don't know if this will help, but I work in the electric motor industry, where micarta is used. Try looking at companies that sell supplies to these motor companies, such as coils, insulation, anything for rewinders. We deal with a company here that will sell you chunks of micarta very cheap!!
