Where to find LARGE competition cutter?

My ideal right now is the CPK KEFFELER Behemoth (12") competition cutter, and I put a notification here and another spot but it's unlikely to be something that appears often.
I'd like to get the Bladesports certification this summer so time is a bit important.
It's a difficult thing to look for because of the heat treat and geometry and I think it'd be even less wise than it usually is to look to some of the sources I might otherwise like the Polish smiths.

Please! Any ideas or leads on someone competent to forge that we trust to be a step above with heat treat and geometry, or anyplace you think might be a good place to hawk for one to come up for sale would be appreciated.

I don't think this large is actually legal for competition, but I have a lot of other uses and a lot of things are coming together for me that I might be able spend time in the woods like I used to, looking all the way to the fall the places we hunt now potentially involve an extremely quick butcher and pack out job to avoid stuff that might want to eat me and a lot of thickish brush to make a straight line out.

Here you go:

Work Tuff Mountain Man - very similar size/shape. (They have smaller versions also).

A fraction of the price too.

If you’re willing to spend the money for a Behemoth, you can definitely afford a full custom to your specs as well…

I don't think they are allowed a point. So production wise I think you might be stuck with condor and cold steel.

Id look here. Built and used by champions.

I don't think we can compare the steel, heat treat, and geometry to esee or cold steel. And I do want to get into Bladesports.
CPK IS Carothers lol

Understood - but it sounded like he really wanted something like the CPK Behemoth/Behemother, and that has a point.

EDIT: Sorry my bad - OP is talking about the “competition cutter” and I missed that bit… Disregard

Yeah. I wasn't sure.

The thing is for competition anything there should be high end gear for high end guys and entry level gear for entry level guys. So that the sport doesn't price everyone out of participating.

And look. I would love blade sports to be more common. Because then I could go out and buy myself some nasty cheap chopper and have a play.

Fair enough. I don't know enough about bladesports to know.

A competition cutter for comps that he can take woodswards and therefore save buying knives?

He did mention getting certified.

Another option is Siam blades. Which I know not much about. But that they throw out a cheapish product and they have guys that compete.

Cutting and chopping are different, choppers can't have tips. There are lanyard requirements and tang requirements and proven strength so pieces of shattered steel don't become shrapnel.
I saw Siam, have you seen them around in a few places or looking at their site? It doesn't seem likely that can do things properly for that price point

This is the best information I have.

I would definitely advise looking in to it further.

Do you need a certified chopper to get your certification? If so, I would probably go with the Cold Steel one (which is certified) to get started and buy yourself some time. Get some experience to figure out what you like and don't like, then maybe find a custom maker to make one (but not sure what the certification process entails).

Alongside that, could keep an eye out for anyone selling a CPK Behemoth/Behemother and/or Competition Chopper, but they're pretty rare.

Thanks, appreciate the link. And especially appreciate the info on the Cold Steel being OK for competition, probably going to PA this Spring to get certified. I'll update here with what I find. I need to keep it under 4 figures if anyone has a cpk for sale or trade pm me or post in the subforum

Oh, and as for a possible maker, Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer just popped into this thread and I recon he’s one of several makers here that would be happy to tackle your custom, to your specs, for Behemother money. 👍👍

In the movies you'd show up with a Skrama - and win! after gruelling challenges (and perhaps losing a finger or two).

Not really helpful, but: Skrama. (Smatchet is definitely out this time.)

I don't even know what Behemother money is. now a days.....what 2-3 thousand???

I'm not interested in making That kind of profit. :0
I wouldn't want that kind of fame going to my head....😜😜😜😜😜😜
