I'm looking for some paracord and would like to know the kind of shop to look for it at. Hobby shop? Sports shop? Craft store?

I have had trouble too. I didn't think it would be so hard, but I keep finding junk. No luck at a local army surplus store or gun show.

Right now im not in a situation thatas great to order stuff (at a college dorm) so im looking for a type of store preferably. sorry i didnt specify.

Any place that specializes in or carries supplies for hiking & climbing should have some.

I would want to see it in person first anyway. I have seen too many "immitations." I don't know where the "real" stuff comes from, but there is a big difference between the stuff I had for years and everything I find now.

In this neck of the woods, west of the Rocky Mountains, you can visit REI co-op for cordage. Recreation Equipment Incorporated. They carry about everything you might need or want for outdoor recreation, all of the toys.

I have some purple with yellow cord that I've been making Chris Reeve knot lanyards with. I am getting better with practice. It is a fine knot as it allows you to change the lanyard from a pull to a safety lanyard and back again with ease. http://www.knifeart.com/how.html

I'll check out REI, as we have one nearby.

That "Chris Reeve knot" looks like a standard noose. Why does he get credit?

REI. Gander Mountain. Dick's Sporting Goods, Cabela's? I don't know what you get in your area.

Any army surplus or camping / canoeing / outdoors store is likely to have it, though if you need strength beware of imitations.

It is an ordinary noose; it's called a Chris Reeve knot around here only because the first place knife knuts see it is often on a Chris Reeve knife.

Search TGB&U and the web for the experiences of others before you consider sending your hard-earned money to Botach.
