where to get 2"x2" S7?

Finaly made it back and rested a bit, time to start working on a power hammer. I have most of the stuff to build it, and can get the rest easy enough, but need die steel.

I need a couple pieces of S7, or similar steel, 2"x2"x3.5" for the hammer dies.

Any idea where to get without spending a fortune? I don't need it machined, I can do that myself after getting it and they will have to be welded to the die plates so I'll heat treat them allso.

Will,

I don't know about the S7, but you may have better luck finding 4130/4140. It will do just fine for hammer dies as well. You could also try to locate some H13. If nothing else having more options gives you more chances.

There are some sizeable chunks on eBay right now as well. I seem to recall someone selling of 1,000 pounds of H13 at $1.00 per, you pick and choose. Same with S7. I had contacted the fellow about S7 in knife making sizes, and he said the smallest he had was 1/2"
