Where to get 5/16" x 3" 5160?

I'm in the process of gathering parts to build a treadle hammer and need a piece of 5160, 5/16"x3", about 18" or so long. All I've been able to find online is 1/4" thick. Any suggestions? I could use a piece of truck spring, but I'd rather use new steel. Also instead of welding a pipe to the end I'll forge it around a mandril and then heat treat the whole thing to a spring temper in my oven.

Thanks

Try local truck spring shops. They will usually cut you a piece or let you pick through their end cut bin. I had a place back in NY that the guy I talked too said I could have all I wanted off the floor by their bin because it was his job to throw it back in the bin when the guys missed :) It was all mill fresh bar end cuts. It was just too short for springs but 12-24inches of thick 5160 :D

Would love to find a source like that, unfortunately theres no shops like that anywhere around here that I could find. For a one off McCaster-Carr came through. Would hate to have to buy a lot of it though.

This^. Not just big truck spring places-ones that do pickups/autos as well. I have nearly 800lbs of known 5160 (eagle spring brand) in raw barstock the local guys saved for me. Actually broke a spring in the truck bringing the spring stock home :/.
Great source.
