Hello all,
I ordered a 16.5" WWII Kukhri from HI and can't wait to use it. I was wanting to get a nice leather sheath for it. Kydex is'nt out of the question but i would prefer leather. Any good names or Websites out there for kukhri sheaths?

Terry Sisco produces nice quickdraw sheaths - but you will have to send the blade to him and everyone else who will make a really fitting sheath for you. Pen posted a tutorial on making your own kydex sheath a while ago (use search function) and someone here had one made by an artisan - I saved the pic - but do not know who he was.

Khukuri leather sheath

this is my favourite.

try leatherman - hangs out in the Busse forum. Post the question to ShopTalk - betcha get more than one offer. ;)

I'm overextended right now - or else I'd offer. If a month or two goes by and you don't find what you want - give me a holler.

Pan Tau,
That sheath is exactly what I'm looking for. Man that thing is nice. Leatherman is making me a sheath for a Ratweiler so maybe I'll see what he thinks about doing one like this too.

I'm having quick draw leather scabbards being made right now for several blades, including a 16.5" WWII, by Ken Anderson in Fairmont, Minnesota, (507) 235-5768, (he has my khuk now). I'm having them done in a heavy, antiqued dark brown leather with a pattern I tend to like on my sheaths and holsters. I'm having the keeper secured by a brass stud, but snaps (brass, silver, gun metal gray) can be used. The attached pic shows a Bowie sheath made by Ken in the style I'm having the khuk scabbards made (except for the quick draw -- open along the upper spine). (The brass stud is just set there for effect). The numerous sheaths, holsters, and rifle/shotgun scabbards I've had made over the years are all hand sewn, very well made, and inexpensive compared to the market. Oh, the new Gelbu is there for khuk kontent. The Western Bowie was presented to me in 1970 by the officers of the 6th Special Forces Group (Abn).

Is Terry still making sheaths? He does fantastic work. I also have nice sheaths by leatherman, but none are for khukuris. He did a wicked one for my Cherokee Rose though.

Silas,

I posted this info before but it looks like it got lost from the public conciousness! Check out http://www.knifeware.com/knresh.html. Ken Warner has started up the Blackjack brand again, and his leather replacement sheath (only about $30) for the BJ Kukri II fits several HI knives from 15-17" with no problem. Very high quality, slim design. I bought 2 and they work great and the price is right. I know they would fit a std. WWII no problem.

Regards,

Norm

Interesting. Blackjack safari kit....

Silas, I also recommend Leatherman. I've had a sheath of his and he is a friend. He has helped me out a lot with my persuit of sheath making. Great guy and makes some great sheaths! :D

Thanks for all the replies,
I've talked to the guy from Blackjack at about 3 or 4 different gun/knife shows, not sure if it was Ken but his picture is on the blackjack website, he is a nice guy. I held the Kukri II and admired the sheath everytime, very nice. I really like the look of that one Pan Tau posted though. Probably wouldn't get the pocket. I'm going to call Leatherman and see what he says.
