Where to get a REAL First Aid kit

I need a good first aid kit (not the pouch of band aids and tylenol that a lot of stores sell). The kind you might take on a week long multi-person camping trip.

Over the years I have assembled my own first aid kit, however this is a time consuming process. I'd like to find a good off-the-shelf kit that I won't have to add much to.

If you could suggest you favorite retailer that would help as well.

Thanks.

Adventure Medical makes some pretty good kits that you can make excellent by adding/removing a few items. They make several sizes so you can buy the one sized right for your party/expedition. They're available from REI and most outdoors retailers.

Hey Josh,

This is kind of a shameless plug, but I've been putting together first aid kits/minor surgery kits for a little while - I may be able to build you something worthwhile.

You can email me w/ what you want included & I'll see what I can come up with.

(I had a post in the gadgets for trade forum here - it had the contents of my last project)

American Red Cross sells a variety of first aid kits. Some are quite extensive.

You might also look at http://www.globalmart.com/page/2/263.htm (I should have this Atwater Carey Pro 3.0 First Aid Kit by the end of this week.) The 3.0 is the largest set, but they have 2.0, 1.0, 0.5, and other stuff sets, as well. I'd seen the 3.0 as much as $120, but I'd finally found that one as little as $74.

Josh,
I've been doing pre-hospital medicine and teaching first aid for over 20 years now. I have yet to find a great off-the-shelf kit. It may be time consuming but, you are much better off putting together your own. It does you no good to have things you don't need or know how to use.Better yet is to have a custom kit put together by someone who really knows what their doing (such as flotsam) They will consult you as to your needs and skill level and build your PERFECT kit.
Good Luck
Allan
