ok so i want to put a very thin piece of carbon fiber on the lockbar for my new zero tolerance 0095BW and i havnt been able to find a place i can buy a small amount. I only need a piece that is 1"x3" thats as thin as possible.

so if anyone knows where i can get a small amount or if anyone has a small piece of scrap i could buy i would really appreciate it.

Hey Roger.

Sounds like you need a piece of CF veneer.
Maybe some CF sticker?
Do you know how your going to attach the CF? How your going to cut it?

I'll check my scraps and see what I have, that will work for you.

well as for attaching it i figured i would try things in this order. if one doesnt work i will go to the next and so on.
first step will of course be to rough up the lockbar face to allow better grip with the adheasives
Superglue->JB weld Epoxy -> if neither of those work to my satisfaction then i will drill and tap 2 screws to hold it down

as for cutting i was planing to use my drill press that has an x-y axis vice (similar to a milling machine) with tungsten carbide end mills as well as a tungsten carbide blade for my dremel. Both of these have worked great when cutting and milling out graphite for mold to pour molten metal into. I have also used them for micarta and fiberglass with good results. Oh and most importantly a respirator. The amount of "dust" that is created when milling out the inside of a graphite mold is just astonishing and from what ive read the dust from carbon fiber is far more dangerous. Even with proper gloves, people who work with it still get little itchy carbon slivers even when they take great care to try and prevent it. I was very surprised that for a material that is considered soft on the mohs hardness scale graphite sure does a number on my endmills and drill bits. Im sure carbon fiber will be much worse, but thankfully i wont be cutting nearly as much

As a CF vendor, on a RC forum, ill share a little..

For thicker CF, your cutting method sounds on par.
For the veneer I could send you. You can actually cut with sharp scissors.

A little tip you could keep or share.. Baby powder is your friend!
Forget gloves, for protecting you from CF dust.. (This works for home insulation, as well)

Dump and rub baby powder into your skin. Specially into any joints, like between fingers, wrists, and elbows..
It will clog your pores, so the slivers can't get in them. ;)

As for adhesive.. Forget the knife ruining compounds..
Automotive Amazing Goop or Shoegoo..
It will hold forever and will peel off! (When your ready to remove it)
