Where to get a Torx T-6 driver?

I've been to 4 different home improvement/hardware stores and no one has a Torx T-6 driver ($@^&%#). All I want to do is flip the pocket clip on a Leek  . Kershaw says that's what I need to do it....anybody know where to get one? Are they "knife-specific" tools that I have to get at a knife shop? :grumpy:

Thanks for any info~

try going to a car parts store. they are common tools in car repair.

Hmmm, went to Home Depot, Ace Hardware, DeNault's Hardware, and Orchard Supply and nothing smaller than a T-10. Ebay, eh? Thanks....

Your hardware stores STINK!
Any respectable place should have bits T6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15 no problem. I bought em all a while back, and got the clip off my roomate's Chive with the T6.

Home Depot is not very specialized, nor is Ace. True Value is good (where I got mine), and Sears will likely have a set. If not, check the net for some, easy find on ebay usually.

P.S. You might check your local wireless phone shop that does repairs, etc.. Lots of cellphones use T6 screws.

also look for general tools...they make a very nice set of torx drivers that will handle most if not all "knife tasks"

Ok, thanks guys! Just looked and they are all over Ebay, so if I don't find it at one other store nearby, I'll get it by auction.

I got a set of small Torx drivers from Home Depot. Look for the Husky 8 in 1 Torx Driver set. If you still can't find it you can purchase it from EDC Knives.

Got mine at Sears. Craftsman 12 piece Micro- Tech Precision Screwdriver Set.Contains T6 thru T9 as well as 8 various small tip screwdrivers. Part # 45736.

i picked up a t6 screw driver from the mac tool truck, he gave it to me for free :p

speaking of the leek, i saw a keyosk (sp) today that had a exact replica of the leek for 15 bucks. it was even a assisted opener with a rainbow coating. the only way that you could tell that it wasent a leek at first site was that the coating was duller than a real leek. the handle and lock were made of aluminum :barf:

im going back next week and buying one so i can break it infront of the snap on man and see what he says :D

I picked up a set from The House of Tools. I actually picked up 3 sets because they were so inexpensive (eg. $8="L" hand driver and 6 Torx bits). I don't know if House of Tools is only in Canada though.

I tried House of Tools in Calgary (both of 'em) and they didn't have them (out of stock when I was there???), but I got mine from Radio Shack - yellow box started at T5 and went up. There were about 20 bits or so with just about all the common and no so common sizes. The bits were brass coated, I think. Extender for the handle, and the handle were quite poorly made. I've also heard that jewellry supply houses may carry these as well, but haven't had the opportuntity to check. For the running around one has to do, online is looking better all the time :)

Hope this helps - gord

The Home Depot set is nice and pretty inexpensive at $5.95. There is a thread by UnknownVT with some good pictures of the set. Do a search for it.

Thanks for the mention - here's the link to the thread -

Torx driver set @ Home Depot

It really is a good quality set for the money.

Note it is small and may be hard to locate - use the store stock # and phone ahead to check stock and ask for assistance to locate them.

There is a sort of "Identi-Kit" picture, stock # and web reference in that thread to help find it :D

Thanks again....the search is over. Went to a 2nd Home Depot, but the set they had was from T-10 on up...no T-6. But went over to Sears and found it easily, they even had multiple handle styles of T-6s. Gee, that was easy...doyyyyyy :o.

Now I've got the fastest Leek in the West...side of my street. :p

Also changed the Griptilian clip around...better, also.

These are the amazing things that a newbie encounters. All you experts long for the good 'ol days when $1.99 led to smiles ;)
