Hi folks, nice to find you here. I'm not a "knife guy" but I'm looking for a good folding knife both for camping/hiking trips and every day package opening etc. Being from, and currently in, syracuse, i looked up the camillus website first, and thought that the talonite EDC looked like it might be the right knife for me; something that can give me years of service without rusting. A good high quality blade, but not so fancy i'll be afraid to cary it for fear of damaging/losing it. Could any of you confirm that this would be the right knife for such a purpose, or point me in a better direction? Also, I emailed camillus last week to see if they have a store front in town, or if they recommended someone in town that sells their product. I don't want to pay much more than the $130-140 i've seen it for on the 'net, but if someone local is selling it reasonable, i'd be happy to give them the business, and not pay shipping.
Thank you much for your time.

edit: I meant to say that i used the online form to try to ask camillus the above question, and haven't heard back yet, and so I am asking here. Thanks again.

www.newgraham.com has the best prices on the net for new knives. I doubt you'll find a brand new Talonite EDC for $130-$140, but if that's all you want to spend, I'd post an ad in the 'wanted' section of the for sale forums.

the place you suggested has it for $137.50, so i think it's possible:) I just think it'd be nice/fast if i could find somewhere to spend the money locally. Thanks for the suggestion.

Gah sorry lol...I was reading 4 threads from here, 2 from the 'other' place, and a yoyo forum. I get confused for some reason:rolleyes:

New Graham is fast...it isn't rush season right now so my package got to me in 2 days:eek: :)

They include a small surprise too;)

Personally I doubt your need to get the Talonite version unless you're in very humid climate or work in enviornment that would normally leave knives rusted.
The only time that I've seen my knives rust was one camping trip that it rained cats and dogs for like 24 hours. My bead blast AUS 6 just couldn't stand it because the bead blast holds moisture. It was very light rusting anyways.

I agree with calyth, I've had no problems with my 154CM EDC rusting. A.G. Russell has a D2 version as well, but it could rust a little bit without some care. I have a D2 Arclite and it showed a few fingerprints when I wasn't careful. The 154CM version is very rust resistant, and holds an edge too. Also, I doubt you'll find someone local carrying the talonite EDC. Those are pretty rare, but you may get lucky, it's always possible. I'm very comfortable ordering from A.G. Russell and I believe they have the Talonite version as well.

Cause if you get the 154CM version, you probably have enough left over to get a Becker ;)
