I've got an order for a big folder with Hakkapella damasteel blade, I need 1/8" by 1 1/4" by about 5" long piece.

What is damma steel and how is it heat treated, ect?

Thanks

If you put damasteel in as a search you will come up with all kinds of galeries and links.

here is one I copied.

... our steel, or one of our dealers/distributors, here are some links. To get damasteel products please contact: Wolf Borger Distributor Germany www.wolf-borger-messer.de Michael Walker Distributor USA www ...

I have a piece I have been saving, but I have used the off cuts of another maker to make small blades. The curve corner from the front of a blade I forged thiner and longer and came up with a little fruit knife. I was very pleased with how it forged and worked.

I just tried the second link and had a look at the usa and canada site
heat treating service is provided and your invited to submit your photos for the gallery on the usa site. I just had a quick look lots more there.

In the US:

www.ssdamascus.com/

They have heat treat details on the site or see the long thread by Roger Linger on Heat treat of RWL 34.

I had good results with the high temperature hardening and 350°F tempers they list. A Hakkapelitta hunter I made for a friend came through cleaning and skinning a trophy sized mule deer buck still shaving sharp this year.
