Who told you that? The only problem with AKS is they will only sell to commercial accounts - that means you have to have a resale number here in the state of Washington.
I have no idea where the you got this idea?tim37a said:The only problem with AKS is they will only sell to commercial accounts.
Wrong. The State of Washington Department of Revenue requires the resale permit, not us.tryppyr said:AKS does require a resale number for anyone in WA. Outside of WA they don't require it.

The net effect and upshot is I obey the law. I am not allowed to sell to a Washington state resident who does not have a resale permit. The net effect is you require the permit. I really don't care why you require it. The upshot is you won't sell to me.
Why don't you:
1) Get your business license
2) Apply for the resale permit
Or are you above the law?
I just think it's disingenuous to blame the state and accuse me of illegal activity because of a business decision you made.
Because I'm a hobbyist, Chuck, not a business. I never sell my knives. As a hobbyist I buy from MANY Washington businesses absolutely legally! Yes, they charge me sales tax, and I presume they pay that tax to the state.
Why do I need a resale number to buy from you, Chuck? As a guess, it's because you made a business decision... a decision that put you in the position of requiring resale permits from your in-state customers. That's cool. Business owners make those decisions every day. It's probably even the right business decision for AKS.
Other businesses made decisions that allow them to sell to consumers in-state.
Look, the bottom line is neither you nor I are greatly impacted by your business decision not to sell to consumers in WA. I can buy from other businesses, and you can sell to other customers. I just think it's disingenuous to blame the state and accuse me of illegal activity because of a business decision you made.

Never mind. I'm sticking with my prior statement that I've said all that needs saying.
