Hi, im new to the board but have an obbsession with knives that goes beyond a normal hobby. I have the basic lansky sharpening kit with the coarse, medium and fine stones, but i want to get some high quality knife sharpening gear. I was wondering if any of you fine knife enthusiasts could tell me of a good website that sells good sharpening equipment. Thank you.

Yes, EdgePro is a big favorite around here. I've been free hand honing for 30 years, and consider myself pretty good at it. The EdgePro did twice as good in half the time (that makes it 4 times better, if your math challenged).

Get the whole delux set, though. Coarse, medium, fine, extra fine and ultra fine. Or at least the custom combo listed above.

Plenty of folks will also recommend the Spyderco Sharp maker as a compliment to the Edgepro. I just use the 8" Spyderco ultrafine ceramic to finish my knives, and a chromium oxide charged leather strop.

You get a #1200 Ceramic rod (8") with the 'Apex Complete' set. IMHO its worth the extra money and I don't think you are going to be rushing out and buying replacement stones any time soon.

You can reprofile and get to super sharp a beat up Kitchen knife with huge nicks in the blade in about 5 minutes.
