Where to get loose SS roller or needle bearings.

I have been playing around with my new (to me) Shirogorov Mayo Dr Death. Around the pivot it has a bearing capture washers that are machined to accept, loosely, 14 loose cylindrical roller or needle bearings. I have not measured them but I would guess that are about 1.5mm dia and 3mm long with flat ends.

Its only a matter of time before one of these bearings go flying away, nowhere to be seen again.

So who would supply loose bearings like that?

Worst case scenario you could get a pre "caged" "retainer" with rollers in it and pop one out and put it in your knife. Once you know the size even amazon stocks stuff like this or probably you have an industrial bearing supply near where you live. Mine is combined with hydraulic equipment. You need to have your ducks in a row when you go in they DO NOT want to fool around with you to sell one or two twenty five cent bearings.

If it is anything like ball bearings (I haven't left a roller out just balls) and depending how well they are held in the retainer one roller missing would make an absolutely undetectable difference in performance and may even flip more freely. Would be worth trying that to see. If you do report back I am curious. On some loose ball bearing assemblies we even intentionally leave more than one ball gap to adapt the bearing to a race condition called Brinelling (link = here) which is consistently spaced dents in the surface caused by over tightening the bearing adjustment. The balls find other areas to roll on and the performance smooths out. Used in an extreme case / can't get parts or got to get something running stat.
