where to get quality torx bits?

Greetings,

So I went to the PDX gun /knife show, and found a new Military. After everything I've read about it, I decided I had to pick it up, and I worked up a trade for an old BM CQC7 I wasn't fond of. Nothing wrong with it, but I didn't realize how limiting a tanto blade was on a general carry knife...

I have this dumb habit of taking any new toy apart, and I picked up the Benchmade torx wrench set... What a mistake that was!

all the bits seem to be made of some cheap pot metal, and I stripped the #6 socket trying to get a few of the handle screws off... A quick trip to Home Depot and I come back with a set of General Tool "percision Torx screwdriver set". These work flawlessly, and I take the Military apart, clean it, lube it with Tetra, and reassemble.. Works like a charm.

Now, I love the idea of having a small kit like the BM torx kit, but it needs better bits. Does anyone know where to get some GOOD quality torx bits, #6 - #10?

thanks in advance.

Regards,
Francis

btw - the Military is SHARP... I sliced my finger really good taking it apart. Brain fart, and now I've got blood on my keyboard... ;-)

Three choices: Craftsman, Craftsman and Craftsman. It's hard to beat a lifetime return warranty.

I got a small torx set (6-10ish) from
wiha ( wiha.com ?). They ain't cheap,
but I've not found any low priced
torx sets yet. The Benchmade screws
need the smaller torx bits.

Sears has some decent torx drivers as mentioned above, but better ones (imho) can be had from Wiha.

I think I had gotten mine from a company called microtools or something. Worth doing a search to find best price.

I bought a set of small WHIA brand Torx #6-#10? at a local (Indy) machinist supply called Wholesale Tool. I just checked their website www.wttool.com and the drivers I have are not listed but they have many outlets and 800 numbers. HTH relic

Correct the brand name: WIHA(made in Germany)

Posted a similar inquiry a while back, and the overwhelming response was, "Buy Wiha". I did, and they are outstanding. NOT cheap, but quality never is. Send a request for their catalog.

Snap On. Just find a truck and ask the guy/[gal>?]I have used Snap On torx bits since they started useing them on cars which a has been quite a while. I was a pro-wrench at the time. There is a good reason most pro tool boxes are full of Snap On tools. If you earn your living with hand tools, warranties aren't nearly as important as not breaking sockets and jamming your knuckles through the radiator fins. Damn I hate when that happens! There are others but Snap On is a no brainer. They work and they last. And they do lifetime warranty I believe.

BTW, I purchased from Wiha because they offer SMALL quality Torx bits - right down to T3.
