I would like to get the Gun Digest Book of Knives issues 2 through 4. If I could find them second hand it would be better as it should save me some money. I am also interested in other knife books, so if anybody knows of where to get used knife books the info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try Amazon.com

They have many used books available (actually thru other book sellers but they arrange it) for out-of-print volumns. I ordered one just today.

Cruising gun/knife shows is a good scource. I have picked up a lot of older publications at good prices that way.

House of Blades use to have a small stash of out of print books.

Give them a call at (817)237-7721

Ebay is always a good source. Most books are in like new shape, and go dirt cheap:) .

Hope this helps :D!!!

All of the above a great suggestions. I have found some books from all of those sources and friends.
Keith (or any one else), email me and let me know what you are looking for and I will keep an eye out for them.
There are a lot of gun shows down here and quite a few dealers who would have at least some of the books you would want.

...If KWM were to let us know what he was looking for, maybe we could help...

Keith, when putting together our library, I used both ebay, and word of mouth methods extensively.

Maybe you could start a thread over in the 'General, Blade Discussion'
forum, letting people know what you're looking for...

As an example: We're looking for Leroy Thompson's book "Survival Knives"...and are willing to buy it or trade for it...anyone have a copy they could cut loose of? (We really are looking for this one...)

Best of luck buddy, we'll help if we can...

I have never seen a knife book at a second hand/ thrift store.
But www.knifeworld.com has a lot of books. Check out their used section...it changes often.

Ebay has some books...but you've got to look for them. Remember to factor in shipping and handling when bidding.

Try www.powells.com they got both used and new books.

I got "The complete bladesmith" for $25, mint condition. I also bought "Military knife combat" at a discounted price.

I have only done business with them once, and the service was good.

I got all 5 Gun Digest books and most of my collection of the entire Knives Annual books by watching ebay.

I have all the Gun Digest books and all the Knife Annuals. There are lots of internet sites you can look at. Try bibliofind.com and also the Barnes & Nobles used book section on their website. Sometimes you can get stuff really cheap.

You might also try www.half.com (the used/remaindered/out of print book division of e-bay) and www.abe.com (american book exchange). I have a book habit that would make a heroin addict blush  and have found both of these places to be good resources for hard to find books.

Follow my signature link and check in at the "Urban Survival" forum. You will need to register and post on the thread to have a chance to win "Knife fighting: A practical course" By Michael Janich. Good luck.

I'd also recommend getting a copy of Guns&Ammo's guidebook to knives. It's got quite a few good articles in it. Cool to see the change in styles, etc...

:)
