Hi,

I'm looking for a piece of weldable steel (dimensions: 12" x 14" x 1/8") -anyone know of any good sources that can provide this material in this size?

Thanks!

I would try a local welding shop or machine shop, they often have partial sheets that you can buy. Maybe a scrap yard, they sometimes get pieces of sheet, you may have to trim and squar it up with a torch at home. Otherwise you'll have to buy a full 4'x8' sheet.

Home Depot has a very small selection of sheet metals, but I think they may have what you are looking for. The stuff seems to be almost hidden in my store, so if you go, make sure you ask an employee so you don't miss it.

I get lot's of stuff from Metal Supermarkets if it's small like what you want. Their stuff is always rust-free, and has clean edges.

if u live in or near any decent sixed town u will have a sheet metal shop close buy. i have a sheetmetal guy do all my metal work that i need for roofing and he can make anything. Look in phone book under sheetmetal or also hvac guys usually have sheetmetal also.

Try Alco in San Leandro or Alan Steel in Redwood City.
Or just cruise 880, there is aways stuff flying off the Big Rigs.
