Where to get some help with a knife

I am attempting to make a knife for my Brother and I need to get some help along the way. It is a BIG tanto style and I have the shape mostly ground out. I looked through the forum list and didn't see one dedicated to noobies or help or anything like that. Is it ok to put it here?

Here are a couple pics of what I have so far. It is D2 steel. It will have brass bolsters if I can do it right. Not sure what to use for scales.

Any and all thoughts welcome please.
