where to get this riveting tool?

i got my eyelette tool froma craft store called Michaels, but i think i have also seen them at walmart, they are for the 2 piece eyelettes. but you should be able to check at any craft or sewing shop to get it. :)

i was wondering - i have a tool that looks just like that for installing grommets...i'm assuming that for putting in rivets i'd need a different base...

ideally i'd like to use those black rivets available from knifekits.com...is there a specific size of this tool that is appropriate for those???

ok, i get it now...found one in a leather supply catalog...i guess you don't really need a base of any particular kind...now that i understand how they work...

but i'm guessing a simple tool like this won't give you the nice neat rounded finish at the end of the rivet - or is that just a matter of technique?

are you talking about the one piece rivets or the 2 piece eyelettes? the eyeletes have 2 rounded pieces that fit together and you can get them in a cople different sizes. the eyeletes have one longer piece and one shorter piece that fit together then you tap them on the base with the tool and you can get them in different colors also.

i was talking about the one piece rivets that peen over on one side...wasn't aware there are two piece ones...what's the standard for kydex sheaths, as far as rivets go?

Knifekits.com has what you are looking for.
They sell the sets of dies seperate or with a press that fit the standard kydex rivets.
