Where to go for custom knives on Manhattan?

Hi there,

I'm going to New York for some business soon, and was wondering where to go for custom knives on Manhattan.

Help is greatly appreciated.

Best wishes, Staffan

Stabs-san, I'm sorry to say that NYC is not the best place for buying knives or swords, evrything is just too expensive here, rents and overhead is astronomical.

Paragon Sporting Goods, on 18th St has a good selection of custom knives, (however they should be wearing a mask). http://www.paragonsports.com/scripts/vsc.exe/cknives.htm?L+paragon+mrrw8015+945550448

Barret Smythe Gallery, on 81st St, has some beautiful Art knives, (prices start with vital organs). http://pweb.netcom.com/~bsmythe1/

There is a Renaissance shop on 48th and 6th, that has a nice selection of swords and stuff.

My sugestion is have fun in NYC, but buy on the Internet for the best prices. Contrary to popular belief, most visitors to "The Big Apple" actually do make it out alive.

We've covered this ground before and the sad truth is that good customs are hard to find on the island. The B-Smythe gallery has beautiful stuff, but very high end and expensive. Paragon has ridiculous prices. Offensive, really. There are some places that carry some interesting ones but they aren't knife stores. On Madison, Barretta has some customs. The straight knives aren't too badly priced, but the folders are overpriced. they do sometimes have specials. I think Holland and Holland on 57th may still have a few. You really have to hunt them out and put up with the fact that it certainly isn't a friendly burg for knowledgeable knife knuts, unless you have a fortune to spend.
