This is probably a reall easy one, but I haven't done this before. I got a wireles card to put in my desktop. How do I know what slot to put it in?

It should go in a PCI slot. The bottom of the card will match up with the slot on the mother board.

You have to be careful with some of these wireless cards. Some insist that you install the software drivers BEFORE you install the card otherwise they simply won't work. Also be aware that once you install it, do NOT take the card out or you will need to remove the software and reinstall it.

The card can fit in any appropriate and available slot in your PC.

Yes, any PCI slot. Just position it so the antenna doesn't touch anything. Usually the slot on the top is the AGP slot which is for video cards. It will look different and may already be populated by a video card.

The other thing I can think of is maybe you bought a wireless card that connects via Cardbus, in which case you're in trouble unless you have a laptop.

Thanks for the help.

I think I got the right card, I already installed a wireless card on the laptop a few months ago. I have usb wireless installed now on the desktop (which I know I have to uninstall), and it takes minutes to synch on boot up and is prone to signal loss. The kaptop has been nearly perfect, so i'm figuring most of the problem is the usb aspect of the current setup.
