I have taken several martial arts forms(karate, isinru, kung fu, and ti kwan do) but never acheved a level where I was tought weapons. I generaly have a knife on my as an every day tool, but thought it would be a good idea to learn to also use it for selff defence. is there any schools in texas that specialize in knife fighting or do i need to refer to books for this training? I plan to get a fixed and folding trainer and my brother has a bali-song trainer which i will use to spar.

You could look to see if you have a Buinkan Taijutsu dojo near you. I took it here in Houston and they do weapons training at any level instead of black belt only like some MA classes do. They try to go for a 50/50 split between armed and unarmed training. I dont want to talk your head off, but Taijutsu is Ninjutsu. The name was changed after the '80s hollyweird ninja movie boom to dissassociate from the image. I can tell you from experience that it can be a brutal art at times but I loved it.
If you could find a Tantojutsu class go for it, but good luck finding one

In san antonio there are the Pitbulls, owner/instructor Gabe Martinez? They are under Gaje. Also Texas Kali has a rep named Rudy Salazar, also under Gaje, and several others in Austin.
