Hi, noon here, though I have a pretty fair # of hunting knives.

I have a limited edition thunderbird bought nre 81. Box, cert, sheath & all.

Was gonna sell it, till I noticed they don't seem to have appreciated much in 30 yrs (paid $40 in 81). So decided it would be fun to collect rest of series with 8 yo son, who also loves knives..

Question is, where to look? Searching online Isn't what I'd consider a dad/son bonding experience, pretty boring for a kid, plus I think yOu always overpay on eBay.

Are Gun or knife shows good sources? Flea markets? Antique stores (I find lots of good buys on vintage tools at those).

Ebay is the best source, but it is getting more expensive. It takes patience. Gun shows, and flea markets are hit or miss and often even more expensive, unless you catch someone who doesn't know they are collectable. Estate Sales are a great source for old knives sometimes, but you better get there real early.

Four years ago you could find a lot of Schrades in hardware stores, gun shops, etc, but that has really dried up, thanks to a few avid collectors, but there are more than you would think. I've never seen the series you mention anywhere but on line.

My 2 cents.

One of the American Indian Scrimshaw Series, from the 1980's. Thunderbird, Morning Star, Turtle, Sundance, Kachina, Bearcult were the editions I believe. They came out beginning in 1981.
