I want to grab some sandpaper for sharpening, but the ones at the auto store sell ones in packs of many sheets--far more than I need and more then I need to spend. Is there a place where I can order sic carbide sandpaper in small quantities?

I bough a couple combo packs at OSH for around $5. Combo SiC pk includes 320, 600, 800, 1500 (don't remember whether 2K is included or not).

3M 'Wet-or-Dry' and Norton 'SandWet' are both excellent. Searching on those descriptors should return many sources. The Norton SandWet can be bought in 5-sheet packs of each grit, in a very wide range of grits (220/320/400/600/800/1200/1500/2000). Last time I purchased, it was about $1/sheet (9" x 11").

My guess is that you will spend a lot more on shipping than it's worth.

You will always need sandpaper. It doesn't last very long.

You just haven't found the right store. Check walmart, auto parts stores, woodworking stores, or farm/ranch stores. It should not be hard to find.

Yes, every hardware, home improvement (Home Depot, Lowe's), Walmart, etc carry packs of sandpaper or emory. Most have multiple grades, but some good hardware stores you can buy specific grits in singles. MUCH less expensive than shipping costs.

Regarding shipping costs, a certain HUGE online marketplace (named after a certain South American river ;)) offers free shipping in the U.S., on total orders over $25 (doesn't have to be all one item), so long as the items are shipped directly from them. That's been my 'Go to' shopping choice for a while now, for that reason. They do have at least some of the 3M and/or Norton paper available (I looked).

I'll also 2nd a recommendation to look in local woodworking outlets (found my stock of Norton paper this way), and automotive finishing stores.
