So General is out so is Custom, and I think FS maker or Dealer is not exactly right. So where should I post it ON TOPIC???

It should not be hard to tell when a post is informational or commercial.

Lets try to keep this forum for the discussion of Custom Knives. It is not a forum for the promotion of selling them.
The For sale forums are.

Are you saying website updates should go in for sale?
It seems a lot of people post them whem where they want to. What is the correct answer to the guys question?

Just my thoughts on the matter.
If you want to post that your site has been updated, don't turn it into a sales pitch. (If I have missed moving one or need to let me know.) Post some info on the makers that have been added. Post info on the new knife that you made, the materials and or the challenges it presented. Post a pic. Don't pitch the sale of the product. Let the product sell itself, if it happens to be in inventory.

This is a moderator here (Larry) whose site is updated constantly. I think he sets a good example for all of us to follow, but I am open to ideas and thoughts that may differ from those above.

Paul,

I agree with Gus. Larry updates his site and does not make mention of it every time. Occasionally, even I update mine.

Paul, your a dealer. You post your update in two places.

The dealer forum or your own forum.

To post in the Dealer Forum requires a check to BF for $100.

To have your own Forum requires a check for a lot more than that.

Judging from all the trouble some fledgling dealers have had here on BF. It's probably best to start off the right way. Helps to keep the flames to a minimum.

Some of these bastids can be brutal!

Ah, the joys of being a custom knife purveyor!

I know what your going through. Thats why I became a Custom Knife Entrepreneur! The hours are shorter and the pay is better! Of course you do have to learn how to spell Entrepreneur!

That's why I am only a Purveyor! Like conveyor with the pur on front, entrepeneur is way too hard for me to spell!
Those french words give me trouble all the time. Ok, so I post in the for sale? NP.

Thanks Gus, Les just needed the info, was not trying to make an ad ;-)

Paul ...

I'm diplomatic enough to hold my true opinion to myself. I never like to attack another man's comfort zone, unless it's necessary. But, be careful not to condition yourself to accept failure!

Before you attempt to buy your way in, make sure the value exceeds the cost.

But, if you're going to follow the herd, be prepared to follow them over the cliff if they choose to lead you there. A cow isn't all that smart of an animal, you know? But, he doesn't have to do much work, either.

I always pick the man on the horse with the guns blazing! Of course, I don't mind getting shot at either. That's a prerequisite to the part, you know? The pay's better, too!

Move along doggies ... pow, pow, pow!

OK sir! .... Moooooooooo! Mooooooooo!

Alex,

You will agree one must do whatone can to survive. Have shot myself in the foot enough times that I have developed a limp, but if I shoot myself in the other foot, the limp goes away ;-).

Just trying to use all available resources, stormin' the gates with guns blazing, little did I know they were cap guns ;-)

Thanks for the advice, I am trying my best to have a good positive attitude

Paul,

Never be ashamed for doing a good service for people. Only be ashamed of those who would make you think otherwise. Then, offer to help them up.

Remember, there's always room in this world for a man that can help!
