where to purchase 1095

Hello, i am new to Blade forum. I have finished several kit knives, fixed and folders. I would like to make a knife from scratch. From what i have read, 1095 is a decent steel to start with. But I'm not sure where to purchase some steel. Any help is appreciated.

Hopefully you've an anvil, otherwise get something to pound on. I use a 80lbs 6x6x8" steel block as an anvil.

Once you get your 1095 try out Peters' Heat Treating for your heat treatment. Located in Western PA and one of the best around they have a special division that just does knife blades and they know what they are doing for what ever steel you throw at them.

I myself buy from USAKnifemaker because of the smaller quantities you can get steel in.
