Happy Friday.

I'll never forget, I was in 4th grade. Mrs. Solomons class. She was mean but I liked her just fine.
The world stopped as they made the announcement over the PA system. They brought TV's into several classrooms and we pretty much spent the rest of the day watching everything.

A very sad day.

The teacher wept as did many of us even though we were only 4th graders and probably pretty clueless.

Always wondered what would be different today if that didn't happen. An awful lot of world changing events going on right about that time.

I was still being potty trained bout that time! May have had my first Daisy BB gun:confused: I do remember the Beatles Ed Sullivan debut on an old Philco corner TV set about that time.

I was just a dream at that point. I feel like 9/11 is the "Where were you?" question of my generation. It was surreal, we had the TV on in class after the first plane hit and we all watched the second one hit on live TV. I was in high school at that point so I had a pretty good idea of the gravity of the situation and what it would mean in the years to come.

Where were you when President Kennedy was assasinated.
Something probably a lot of people have been asked by the Warren commission.
I didn't do it. Wasn't even born yet.
My parents were only 8 and don't remember.

My East German teacher Frau Krueger (10 times Hero of Labor medalist) was old enough and she told us in third grade (still east Germany) that back then she got so sad that it induced labor and she had to be rushed to the hospital. Any idea why a Commy like her would have liked Kennedy so much that her baby came early, or at least so much to make up such a story? Maybe she was just testing our political conviction (or our parents) and would have reported us if we would have said something wrong? Wouldn't be unusual. In first grade she once reported me to the principal for wearing a T-Shirt showing Mickey Mouse.
Anyways she didn't get any information from my class, none of us knew Kennedy.
After the wall came down in 1989 we heard of JFKs "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech    and Cuban missile crisis etc.

I was born in '81, so I don't have much recollection;)

However, I will always remember where I was when the Challenger exploded and obvious where I was on 9/11.

I was in my fourth grade classroom . The principal came in and announced the assassination and we were all sent home.

The Challenger was another bad day.

I guess I forgot that it was so long ago with Kennedy, seems like yesterday to me.

Wife just texted and told me I proposed 38 years ago today too. Never would have guessed and never before made the connection. Time flies when your having fun.

I was in school. It was my 11th birthday. They let us out early from school but I had a terrible birthday as mom and dad was so upset about the president. I didn't fully comprehend what had occurred at the time.

Also in the 4th grade. It started raining later in the afternoon in Gillham, Arkansas. My folks picked me up after school. We went to DeQueen and I got a haircut. Two days later, I was watching KTAL (NBC affiliate) and saw Oswald get shot live. There was no audio in the live shot so I thought somebody had just punched him. A few minutes later, NBC reran the shooting with the audio.
