I’ve heard this steel is a beauty to work with. Where do y’all buy this steel here in the states. Looking to do some stock removal blades with it! Thanks BF

They are basically the same steel.

Goes back to the ATS 34 and 154cm wars during the 1990s about which was cleaner and better but both have the same chemistry.

Rwl-34 is a PM version just like the CPM 154 is.

The steel has a legacy to legendary knife maker Bob Loveless who made ATS 34 and 154cm prominent steels for knives.

Rwl stands for Robert W. Loveless.
"34" like "ATS 34"

It's the same chemistry on all of these.

RWL 34 is swedish steel which has a higher reputation for being cleaner and it comes in cold rolled bars vs hot rolled scale covered bars on the CPM154.

Difference in actual knives will be more depending on other factors such as design, processing, HT geometry, sharpening etc

I was under the impression RWL had a higher vanadium content....not sure if that makes a huge difference or if it’s enough to warrant one over the other.

Out of the steels I have used so far, RWL 34 has come in the nicest package by far. Clean crisp straight flat bar with straight corners all around.
