I recently bought my first case peanut with an amber bone handle and thought I would compare it to the schrade 72 OT and a Rough Rider that I have.
The biggest difference I can see is the heftiness of the Schrade compared to the other two. It just feels a lot beefier and has thicker blades than the others. The Case is a very beautiful knife and I would say it's a better display knife than the others.
I bought the Rough Rider as a momento of the Whaling Museum in New Bedford as it was scrimshawed with a picture from Moby Dick, and I saw the guy do it. It has a very beautiful handle, but even to someone as novice as myself, it is obviously a cheap knockoff of the Case. Gaps between the handle and bolsters, stained bolsters, etc...
The Case and the Schrade have no gaps and are both a step above the RR in quality.
My assessment:
Schrade---beefy user
Case--great displayer
RR--I wish the guy had scrimshawed one of the other two...
