Where's the DC & Satin finishes?

Is it just me or does it seem that the DC and Satin finishes are getting to be less and less of an option? My favorite of the two is the DC, just seems to be a better choice for a user but the satin is very cool when it comes time to have a show piece. I realize that these finishes would raise the cost of the knife but that really doesn't seem to have kept people from ordering them. If memory serves me right they haven't been offered in any of the knives since the FSH at the company store and I believe the last one to be offered at the combat site was the SJTAC. I believe this was the model that stayed up during summer, can't recall for sure. What's going on here? Jerry's still going to offer the FBM in all the combos isn't he?

i really prefer the satin and for using too. i think it is easier to clean and builds character just as well as the coated models. right now i have more black crinkle in use than anything.

they are in fact more costly to produce as they have to be hand ground and finished.

Didn't Jerry say that the AK's might possibly be available in a Satin or DCBB finish from the Busse Custom Shop in the future? If they are does this mean they will not use the Corrugated Bevel Technology on them? I can't see how they could put a good Satin or DCBB finish on that. I'm not saying they can't, I just can't see how.

possibly not a satin finish, but definitelly a DC on those. A DC is easier to do actually.

Hey CB... congrats, Gold Member eh? And... Scott as a bodyguard!

Cobalt I thought that Jerry puts a rough satin finish on the knife prior to Double Cutting it? Which in my mind would make it more expensive than the a satin finish but then maybe what he does is really just sand it down close to a satin finish prior to the DC. I'd forgotten about the new method he's using on his knives now. I can see that it would make a satin difficult, but like you said I still think BBDC would be possible.

Thanks, I figured I owed it to BF after over 7 years of being on here.

Yah, I heard that they do the DC after satin finish, but I can't imagine why. you don't need to sand them down as far for the DC. The finishing with 1000 grit or higher for the satin is not necessary with DC so I am sure that it is less work, IMO.
