For about two years now I have wanted a Ka-bar fighter (1271) but always passed it up. Looks like a nice knife, full tang. I don't see much chatter about it. If anybody has experience with them, that would be great! General Ka-bar appreciation thread as well.

Those are quite popular. I had one a while back, and really liked it. It has a good balance, and a comfy grip, I had no complaints about it.

One of my brothers friends fell in love with it, at a campout, and so I sold it to him. As far as I know, he's still happy with it.

Its a fighter, you can tell by the weight, and the balance, its lighter than the mind makes it out to be. Its got a good blade for pokin' stuff, for sure.

That's nice to hear as always, I just wish it was all plain edge, that would be sick. Another idea is to make it 6 1/2" opposed to the 8". I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that would be scrumdidleyumptious.

Oh hell no, I would love to see a 6 1/2" blade, that's a perfect size. For a knife dubbed "fighter" 8" is a nice round number that adds up to more innards being damaged.

I have no love or even a mild interest in serrations, but they do have a place, I think it would be better to have them on the top of the blade. Perfect for cutting coarse or synthetic media, and leave you a full, smooth, B E A U T I F U L edge, to get your needs done. :D

I liked the knife, but some of the features just didn't appeal to me a the time.

That's why I've been checking out an SRK for the 6ish blade size/ blade geometry. There really is'nt many knives in the sub $70 range with one in carbon steel. Which is a shame.

The MKI and BKT Shorts are in that range, on both accounts, but its all in what you want. The FFG on the MKI makes it a dandy user, my wife fell in love with them after rooting around in one of the contest boxes I had. Now, she's got one of her own.

Its that $70 mark that is difficult to contend with. Like with the 3/4's, it actually takes longer to make one of those, that in does its full size counterparts. Seems the smaller you go, the more difficult it is.

I have one, I agree with the smaller blade without serrations. Not a huge fan of the factory sheath but plan on gettin her some kydex pants one if these days

I'd like one of those without the serrations, too. Or even an 8" fighter shape like that but full-flat-ground. That'd be sexy.
