Thats the easy one, but where's Emerson? Does this bother anyone else here...Emerson has their own forum here which many respond to and ask many questions but never get a reply or comment of any kind from Emerson. The last time I saw was a post from 11-10-99 and that was to tell about the NY show.

If Emerson knives does not participate in this forum, what's the point? This could all be moved to the general forums. It just seems to me that this is just a cheap way for Emerson to advertise and even for the forums here to boast that Emerson is a part of it all.

Is there a way we can improve on this forum? Maybe ask Emerson if someone from his company could volunteer to help out as a moderator?

Hey Keith,
I agreed that Emerson should participate in his own forum but I've found the best way to get answers to my questions that the Emerson can only answer is to fax a letter or e-mail them. I faxed a letter to them concerning my CQC "67" after the NY show; Mary called me at work the very same day and answered all of the questions I asked in my letter. E-mail takes a little longer. Emerson himself answered my e-mail a few weeks later. All of my other questions are answered by other forum members.

Emerson does indeed respond to emails. I posted one to him last week regarding my CQC6 and got a response within 2 days. I do, however, agree that he (or someone in his employ) should keep abreast of the happenings on this site. It would benefit all concerned!

Well at least now I know that by sending a personal e-mail to Emerson Knives I can get a reply to questions etc...

Maybe by reading this post and others like it, Emerson Knives can find a way to become more involved on the forums in the future.

It would be nice if they could get more involved in their forum. Or at least add a moderator that is willing to be more involved and knows alot about their knives. The Emerson forum is nice to have, but would be alot better with more involvement.

I believe that company participation is a requirement for having a Company Forum here at BladeForums.

If Emerson is not participating a note should be sent to Mike and Spark so they can investigate.

I would like to think that it is just an oversight as I am sure that this has been a very busy time.

Everyone knows that Emerson is very busy with his custom shop and relatively new, small production house. Although I would like to hear more from him as well, I don't mind that he devotes his time to making knives, training and testing new designs. Some moderators are very active, but there are other forums where participation from makers is non-existent as well.

I'm just glad that there is a forum set aside to discuss Emerson knives.

I think the point being made is not that Mr. Emerson himself doesn't post here, but that no-one from his company seems to. If I am wrong, please correct me, however I have seen questions from forumites go unanswered for several days, until they are finally answered by another forumite.

Hi Keith,

Where is Waldo...I love it. Keith, if your going to come into this forum, cloud the issue with facts and use common sense; then you will be removed!

Seriously, excellent points are made here. If those who have a forum are not going to participate, then why give them a forum.

I think this needs to be addressed to Mike.

Les

If Emerson is never going to post here either shut it down or lets go ahead and start other non-moderated forums such as CRK&T and any others we like. I just cant believe the total lack of effort Emerson has with this forum.

Maybe after the SHOT show after being reminded of Bladeforums.com, Emerson may find time to join us here in his own forum!

The forum is great with ot without Emerson. There are other forums maker/manufacturer and otherwise where the moderators are completely inactive, too. No one asks for those to be shut down. The members on this forum make it great and although I would like to see Emerson play a more active role, he's really busy. I've learned a lot of stuff from the other members and think the forum can stand on its own.

The only forums I see not moderated much are ones that do not represent a specific knife co. The moderator is used more to keep an eye on any issues that may arise. The fact that Emerson Knives moderates this forum is because they choose to and that they are without question the authority on the knives.
Anyone can be the moderator here, but when Emerson Knives chooses to do so, they need to be prepared to contribute and help with our questions and or concerns.
Now I dont mean any harm, I dont want to upset anyone, and sorry if I have. Thats not the point, and I am not trying to rag on Emerson Knives.
I too enjoy emerson knives and look forward to to buying more of them myself in the future.

Well, I am not Waldo or Ernie Emerson for that matter. I will soon be the moderator of this forum though. There is so much going on with the company, I am afraid that attention to the forum has gone a bit by the wayside. I hope to change that a bit. I will pretty much be the voice of the company but will alert Ernie directly when need arises. I look forward to helping you all out with your unanswered Emerson questions.

Take care,
Derek Russell

I guess that' s positive news. Derek, thanks for your attention in this forum. You could start right away by helping with some answers to my recent post on the problemed CQC7 reversible pocket clip. Thanks.
