I posted earlier about my first show this past weekend in Columbia, SC. I had no idea how I was going to do especially with some of the other knife makers saying that many buyers want to "watch" a new maker for a year or two, and also knowing many people seem to be holding on to their money lately. My goal was to pay for the table and I'd be happy just getting out there talking with people. I took 23 knives. I sold 14 and got orders for 3 more. I might not sell a darn knife at the next one , but hot damn that's fun. I owe great amounts of support and help to other members of the SC Assoc Of Knifemakers. I was voted in earlier this year and have come to really appreciate the friendship shown and knowledge that has been made available to me. Several other members were at this same show. George Herron, David Manley, and several others made it a very enjoyable show.:D
Take care,
Robert

Sounds like a good first show. Keep up the good work and Im sure they will get better as the years roll on by.

Outstanding! At my first show I sold one, and was happy! :)

14 knives is a good show by anybody's standards, and clearly means your work was very well received by an audience that is exposed to some of the best in the business. South Carolina has some great knifemakers.

Your knives must be pretty impressive to have mustered 14 sales in your first show. Good on ya. Now as I posted in the last thread, can we see some of these knives that you make? Please.

Congratulations. Nice way to get started and a very realistic approach to your first show! May it be the first of many more good ones for you.
