so i really want a benchmade axis lock... just cant decide which one. I at first wanted the bm14205 but am now considering the rukus (possibly because i am impatient. All opinions welcome... also does anyone know if there are plans to make custom scales for the mini rukus?

It depends on what size you are looking for. The Mini Rukus is VERY NICE! There is also the 710,940,Grippers, and ect. It is a matter of what size. THANKS! Kevin:) :)

the 710 is great and the 805 and 806 are nice if you can find them. Like kda depends on the size you want. Pick out the size you want and the pick out a handle to match your uses. Also buy with confidence...... its an axis lock so they are all good choices

Here's a couple Axis locks for you to look at. The pics are spur of the moment so nothing too special, but I did throw in a macro just for kicks. Of these three, the Griptillian easily has the smoothest action, while the Rukus bros. feel like you could go to war (and come back) with them. The 610 is probably my favorite of the three, but you must understand that this is a VERY big folding knife. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

As you can see, I like black, plain edged blades!

The 710 is a great choice. My 610 functioned like a champ, but I couldn't get past that handle. Very ergonomic, but ugly as sin.

The 610 Rukus is far and away my favorite. I switched out scales to the ivory micarta and it now just looks that much better. I'm in the process of trading a couple of knives and one of the things I'll receive, besides money, is a nib pre-pro mini Rukus 615. The Benchmade site says the custom scales are on backorder, but I'll be all over a pair of the ivory micarta for the 615 when available.

get the doug ritter gripper the blade is flat wide cord and looks a little like the sebbie blade it can be used by eather hand and fits well stays very sharp i love mine that and my lg skirmish are my edc,s

No brainer as far as I'm concerned. The HK 14205 and if you want a smaller folder the HK 14210. I think these are two of the best production folders offered to the public in the last thirty years personally.

I can only comment on knives I own.

I have two Grips, a TSEK, a 710, a 940S, and a 735.

You can't beat the 550/551 for the money. If a 710 is not too big for ya, go with it. For a slightly slimmer, smaller knife go with a 94X Osborne.

ok so i like the grip. very nice knife. the rukus feels too small to me. for a large folder i want some beef to it. just my opinion. the osborne on the other hand.....omg is that a elegant knife. with D2 steel it is awsome. the axis is auto i think. i like that type of axis better. just not comfortable with the manual axis. my vote is for the red osborne.

it is expensive though. over $200

I didn't know the HK14205 was available yet, where do you get one?

I think they are still 6 weeks out to the general public. I have a premium sales dealer here near me for BM that managed to be one of the lucky ones to snag a sample. He was kind enough to let me handle it and check it out. Nice!

Thanks guys,

I dunno, i just don't like the looks and the blade on the 710. Anyone had any problems with the rukus, ergonomically speaking? what is the reason that the mini rukus is so expensive esepcially compared to the bm14205?

The blade steel is one reason. The Mini Rukus has S30V and the HK has 154CM. The Mini Rukus has had some thought put into it with people being able to change the handles. Any Axis lock you choose will be a GOOD ONE! Kevin:thumbup:
