Alright im looking at BM 42 weehawk blade and BM 31. I want a good flipper/looks cool. The 31 looks awsome but the blade seems short. Well my hands are small. But the 42 looks almost as good, i like the 31's handles more. What do you like more?

Considering that the only person on these forums that has used a 31 is Gollnick.... I think that question is a little premature.

Yes it is. But acording to the book Balisong by Campbell et al the kinfe should stick out about an inch on each side of your fist. This works well for me.

Get a 42 for now "LOL"...you will have a classic design for Balisongs, and a handle/blade length that is typical for many Balisongs ~~> a good way to get started!

The 42 should flip a little better because it has more room for you to grip, but it may be a bit too big for an every day carry.

The handles are the same on the 42 and 31, except for the length and the added pocket clip on the 31.

Been flipping balis for almost 40 years. Find some one that owns both of the older BM or PC sizes. I have large hands thereore I prefer the handles on the Custom Balisong. But since BM won't make them any more... but I digress. It took me a while to master the short knives 68, 35 etc. They flip fine when you get used to them. I find the 42 and all other ti handled balis just too light to suit my taste. Having said that, the 42 flips just fine. Might be easier to learn with the large knife. If you are just starting out, TAPE the edge or wait until you can get a BM trainer.

Ok, well i got a traine already and its pretty heavy... and i ve small girl hands.... now um when they say sticking out inch from each side of your hand.. do they mean closed.. right?

lol, of course. opened you'd probably cut yourself and get pinched in the pivot area all the time. :)

woha, i got a huge butterfly knife i got maybe like 3 inches on each side opened! but only one inch on each side closed. So? its way to big or just right?
