Which Becker next?

The two Beckers I have are the BK14 and BK17. I'm looking for something a little larger, but there are so many options. The BK2 is the one that seems to get the most press, but is there an even better one?

Which Becker do you all think would supplement the current two the best? Is there some classic that everyone "has to have"?

(No BK9s, I already have a nice chopper. Not that I have anything against BK9s...)

I'm sorry if this has already been done to death...:o
 
Not sure your exact intended use but I like the 10 better then the 2. Also take a look at the 5 or 12 (the 12 depending on your budget).
 
The machax seems like a lot of fun, if you want a really funky looking blade. The bk2 has been touted as the best do it all knife, and it seems pretty indestructible. I'd go with one of those two.

I usually pair a BK-14 or Bk-16 with a Machax or Bk-9 when on an outing. You'll really want one of the biggies if you're toting a trusted small as well.
 
The BK2 is an excellent blade. It is the kind of blade you would want with you if you were down on your luck. I always imagine the 2 like a small hatchet. That is the best way of describing it. It does a lot well and the design gets a lot right despite what some may say. The 10 may be up your alley if you are concerned with the 2's thickness. BUT The larger Beckers are really great. The 9 is quite the blade even though you say you dont need another chopper the 9 is much more than a chopper. Its nimble enough to do a lot of small blade tasks fairly easily. Its a quite good blade. Finally, I like the recommendation on the BK5... I have had one for about a month now and I cant put the thing down. Its and 8 inch blade that can perform like a 5 inch. The knife is very well balanced that even at its larger length standard whittling and bushcrafty tasks are really easy and comfortable with it, and it still has the length to be a decent chopper Its a good all around blade like the 9 just more agile. Recommendation from me is either the 9, 5, 2, or 10 or HECK even the 4!. You will not be disappointed in any of those Beckers :thumbup: Just throw a dart and buy that one... LOL
 
the ten is a sweet blade the bk2 is my goto its the kinda knife that you want when the shtf so too speak nearly indestructable!

When you think like this.....you are ultimately limiting your options.....and your fun. From this viewpoint you could also ask yourself, why camp when I already have a home......

but do what you want, Good luck!
 
Yes, I will eventually buy a BK9. However, I already have a chopper that works for my needs (Swamp Rat Battle Rat) and I don't have a knife even close to the BK10. It is just about which one I buy first. ;)
 
Yes, yes, yes. :) I will get a BK9. Just not right now. The title is "Which Becker next" Not "Which Becker should I ever buy." Thanks for the input, though, and I'll look into a 9.
 
If your next becker isn't a BK9, then you're doing it wrong. :p The BK9 comes before all else. It comes before other knives, before food, it's so important it even comes before beer!

Ok! Ok! I will buy a 9 next. Man...peer pressure. What store has the best prices on a 9? (Email me if they're not a BF dealer.) Anyone got a used one for sale?

LOL! I'm glad we came to an understanding...


I just noticed you're in Colorado. If you're not too far from Pueblo I would be willing to meet up with you and let you play with some of my stuff. I have a 2, 10, 7, and 9 along with some other Ka-Bar and non-KB stuff.
