Which Benchmade Activator?

My wonderful Wife is thinking of buying me a Benchmade Activator for my birthday in April and asked which I prefered, the wood/D2/leather sheath, or the carbon fiber/S30V/kydex sheath.
:D

What do you guys think of the differences between the two knives? Any clear preferences either way, any direct experiences?

I have experience with Benchmade D2 in a 942 (and with Dozier D2!), and much prefer it to S30V (Spyderco and Chris Reeve). Both keep a working edge a long time, but D2 will keep a razor edge much longer before turning into a working edge. I sharpen my S30V much more often than D2, just to keep a razor edge.

I have like new in box 210 tk. It's a great knife but I want to trade it. I have only carried it a few times. I can send pictures of it. If you like I would trade you for a knife you might have, that you would trade. I'd just like it to be around equal value. I picked the 210 TK because it has s30v steel, and sweet scales and a better sheath for my needs. I did figure out a way to lash this knife sideways on my belt. This makes the knife totally hidden. It can also be used as a neck knife. Its is light enough to be used so. I like s30v better than d2 seems to sharpen sharper for me. Like I said make a trade offer, and maybe we can work something else, then she can get you another knife. Man I wish I could get my wife to buy me a knife. I have to make a reason up everytime I get a new blade. O well, I have so many now I can sneek any new ones in unnoticed. Sorry for the long post, I guess I feel like talkin today. So-Lo Kustoms,
Have not set my mind on which model yet, still info gathering. Leaning twords NEW in box and besides, don't have anything worth while I would like to give up at the moment. Thanks for the offer anyway. By the way, If the 210 is so nice, why have you been trying so hard to get rid of it?

My BM210TK (in S30V) just came in today!! Razor sharp as have all my Benchmade purchases been lately. I got to open it, look at it, show it to my wife, and annouce that it did indeed arrive unscathed and unspoiled..... then I had to put it back in the box and my lovely wife TOOK IT AWAY!

It's my Valentine's Day present, so I have to wait until Wednesday...:)

I have the CF model with the neck sheath and I like it a lot. I agree with picking whichever one you like the most, because you can always ask for the other one on another occasion (like the one week anniversary of getting the birthday knife :) )

I have both, the Carbon Fiber/G10 is more attractive, but the D2 I will probably see more use. Nice little knives, you can't go wrong with either.

ubercoupe I understand your ?, This knife IS a very nice knife every 210 or 211 owner I know is very happy with this little gem. Anyways it is not my kind of knife, it is a little to little and to nice looking to be beat in my bodyshop. My post was not propaganda. Order either one and you will see what I'm sayin about the size. For now I'll stick to my mini manix for EDC. And trade this knife for a larger knife fixed or folding.

Yes, it's a small knife.... very small. No matter the size of your hands, the handle will be smaller than you're used to. But it's designed that way, for fine small jobs and for a semi-concealed carry. If you can, go to a knife shop that carries them and handle one. I wanted a small knife and was torn between the 210 Activator and some of the Bark River minis.

Local Gun shop has one in D2 and I really like the warmth of the wood handle.
It has a surprising amount of strength and utility in such a small blade and since I have med. sized hands, it is small enough to ride against the inside of my palm on detail cutting and yet grippy enough for me to use in a strong forward grip...interesting accomplishment for benchmade...I think I am talking myself into the D2 and getting a kydex carry for it or trying my hand at making one.
Thanks all for the support.
