Hey guys, im considering buying my first good knife for everyday use. I cant decide between Griptilian 550hg and HK 14460nitrous blitz. Could you give me any feedback about these knives? thx

look into the mini grip. Great little knife. Smooth, strong, sharp and easy to carry.

i held the minigrip ,and the handle seemed too small for my hands.
I know that the grip is more popular , but i just love the looks of the HK:)

Consider the 940 and 943 Osbornes. They have a longer blade and handle than the Mini Grip, but carry more compact than the full sized Grip.

If you can find a 73x Ares get one. Best folder they ever made. Totally sucks that it got discontinued.

For EDC use, I'm not a big fan of the full-size Griptillians - they just don't feel right to me, probably due to the lack of handle weight.

I don't mind the Mini-Grips for EDC, though.

Not a fan of the nitrous knives, simply due to a lack of excitement over "assisted openers" on my part.

Have you looked at any of the Axis locked HK offerings? They seem to get generally positive reviews.

Between the two, Griptilian 550hg and HK 14460nitrous blitz, I'd go with the Grip. Why? My personal dislike for liner-locks.

x2 on the 94x series. Great edc, almost don't know its in your pocket. Very smooth action, very light. You might also consider the 907 Nitrous Striker (spear point version), they seem to be very highly regarded.

I like the 940 too! Also own a few 730 Ares and they are good too. You can not go wrong with a Benchmade! GOOD LUCK! Kevin :D

Can't go wrong with the Grip or Mini Grip. I carry the Mini only because here in Wisconsin you can't carry a knife with a blade longer than 3". So the Mini is perfect for me.

I carry a mini-Griptilian 555HG often. I like the reverse tanto type blade profile.

I EDC a BM Osborne 940. I love the axis lock an quality of BM! Between those 2 choices I would get the Grip.

Had one of the Nitros jobs, 907, sold it after 3 weeks. I thingk I will replace it with a 943 or the Mini Grip 556. The 940 is also a good knife.

If you really like the 14460, then you should probably get it. I personally like the Grips way better.

If your gonna for a Grip as an EDC definitely spend an extra $15 for a Ritter Grip. Steel upgrade and better drop point.

I like the Mini Grip 556 and the BM 530. Don't much like the 551 Griptilian due to the hollow handles and funny balance, but it is still a good knife.

Benchmade has a lot of good knives for EDC.

At the low end, the Monochrome and Vex supply an amazing amount of bang for the buck. If you like more spine and less grind, perhaps a pika.

For a little more, you can get into the Griptilians and enjoy the Axis lock. I'm not a fan of the HG version as I dislike hollow grinds, but there are plenty of old stock and used grips available at good prices.

Moving up, more options come into play. The 707 and 710 are good knives and great performers. I think the 710 is now only in D2 which is not a steel I like though it has many fans. It just doesn't sharpen well for me.

Also in this price range, the Ritter Griptilians at aeromedix are available and my favorite knives at this price point.

If you like metal handles, lots of Osbornes. The various 94Xs have proven themselves. REI had a boutique run in CF recently. The 921 (discontinued but still easy to find) is my favorite Osborne.

And don't forget Balisongs. The BM 32 is a nice bali and quite pleasant looking. So good that I overlook the D2 blade and enjoy it all the same.

The 42 is the classic hard core balisong.

And it you're willing to look at another brand for which BM is the contracted Manufacturer, consider Bradley Cutlery. The Alias is popular but I love the Mayhem Balisong. All the BM quality but some different design styles.
