i am looking at getting a new knife. it would be for my EDC rotation. i am looking at a silver 960, 635 mini skirmish, 520 presidio, 420 resistor, 940.

is the 420 resistor smooth or is one layer raised higher?

here is a list of what i have know microtech l-utd, microtech ultratech, griptilian 550, benchmade 46, 220 fixed resistor, spyderco kopa, spyderco delica, spyderco native 3, glock knife, kershaw chive.

so which butterfly should i get?

thanks

all of them. but i just ordered a 635 lmt addition blue and appariton and was trying to decide whether or not to order a presidio or 721. it now looks like its gonna be the presidio anyway

Well, if it were me I'd go with the 635. My logic (and I use that term loosely  ) is that you've already got knives designed by Snody, Pardue and Osborne and you've got knives with Axis locks. The 635 is a Ti framelock, Blackwood design...it's different than everything else you have. This is not to say the 635 is necessarily better for your EDC needs than the others, only you can determine that, but I like to get knives that have a feature I don't already own, be it a different steel, handle material, lock type, blade shape, etc.

Just one avenue to consider. I think you'd be happy with any of the choices you listed though.

The 420 has a raised layer of G10 over an aluminum frame. Overall its a thick knife, but IMO it has a custom look to it, but so does the mini skirmish.

all good points. i need to try to find a local place where i can view them first. i picked up the kris without seeing it first and i am not big on it. btw none of u live in s fl and have them do u lol.

no. i like some spydes but i prefer alot of the bms.

i wouldnt mind a black para and a yojimbo, ronin, maybe a spyker and persian. theres something about spyderco that makes them look a bit like toys in some way. not to say it dont like them, i just guess thyre less tactical looking.

well i looked at the 960 today and the 630 they didnt have the 635 at out door world. i am not to big on the 960 it didnt seem easy to open wit the thumbstud. i am used to the sypder hole and my griptilian has the oval. the 630 looked nice but big. i have never been a fan of linear locks but this looked pretty good. i think i am going with the 635. i am going to look around to see if i could see it in perosn before i order ( i have a credit at knifesite.com) i am sending back the kris. so do u think the modified linear lock is good in compared to the axis or lockback?

thanks

well i made my decision. i am keeping the KRIS, it makes a good novelty knife. i have nothing else like it, nor have i seen a kris blade before i saw that knife. when i was looking at benchmade i was trying to compare them to my griptilian. so i figured that has all the features i want y get something else. i appreciate all of the input and many great knives were suggested i just like the griptilain too much. and for novelty ill keep the kris.

thanks
