i spent $215 taking my girl shopping this weekend, and now i have to by a new wheel for my car this week. needless to say, this halted my knife bying real quick. however, christmas is coming:D. i'd like to get a new EDC folder. i've been carrying a BM ascent II for awhile and would like something new. i'm really interested in everything BM has to offer now. the only hard part is narrowing them down. what do you guys think? i'd like to keep it under $100. i'm really partial to benchmade, but am open to suggestions.

What size range were you thinking?

Almost anything they make can be had for under $100 if you keep your eyes peeled.

If you just want a great working tool and don't care much about luxury or upmarket materials then the BM Griptilian series is just what you want. I'm partial to the 555, but they are all quite functional.

If you want to move a bit further up into their range, the BM 720 and 721 are fantastic knives. I like the Al handle of the 720 myself, but the 721 seems to have quite a following as well.

well, I have to say that BM offers a lot of good production knives. I think if you raise your budget slightly, to around 120 you get a lot more options. You can get practically any BM axis lock for around 110 or so (plus shipping puts you around 120)

The 94x series is really nice it's a bit slim/small though
The 73x is also very nice, probably my personal favorite (you should wait for the black g10 models though, unless you like the funky rainbow handles)

The AFCK is also very good, the 806 comes with axis lock and D2 blade, the knife is pretty big though

The griptilian is also very nice, it's well within your budget too. Theres a limited edition D2 version floating around right now

Chad is right. Some dedicated research and keeping your eyes open could come up with something VERY NICE for that price. I just saw a BM735 in the sale forum for $85.00. I would say go for the axis lock in some form or fashion.

Happy hunting!!

Send Benchmade an email and ask them to let you know when they come out with an AFCK in S30V.

i'm really liking the 520 presidio cause of the aluminum handles, 154CM blade and axis lock (plus it looks really cool:D). anyone know where to find it at a good price? and thanks for the suggestions everyone, please keep them coming.

Edit: the 720 pardue is nice too.

Edit again: now i like the 943 osborne too. [whining] pleeeease help me [/whining]

my philosophy is to use your teeth if you must spend 100 bucks or less.. at least teeth don't cost anything til you chip'em bad enough.

If you don't already have one, you need to get a Benchmade 710 ($100 from New Graham).

Another great knife, one of my favorites, is the 720 ($106.25 from New Graham).

I'll second the BM520. I have one and I love how the whole knife is made of metal. Another to consider is the switchback.
