Between a SR-101 with a flat ground blade or a A2 with a convex ground blade, which on would be better for bushcraft, camping and general purpose??? Im not to sure on steel and grindings so you will have to help me!!! Thanks

Well, SR 101 is Swamp Rat's steel and on all of mine it is a convex grind. So now it looks more like SR 101 vs A2.

Offhand, I'd say the SR 101. Simply because of the extroadinary (?) devotion of Busse/Swamp Rat to Heat Treat. Before INFI, Busse was using A2, but this was A2 with Busse's HT. I have a couple of older Busse's in A2 and they will take a wicked edge and worked quite well for me. Haven't really used them hard though as they are on the smaller size (5", 3 1/2"). Guess I'm saying, there is A2, then there is A2.

What size blade you looking at?

So it’s Swamp Rat versus something. SR101 is 52100 with a proprietary heat treat.

If the something made out of A2 is a Chris Reeve or an early Busse, then buy which ever knife you like best.

Otherwise, buy the Swamp Rat.

PS: Swamp Rats have a convex edge —not a convex grind.

The Res C handle on the Bog Dog will be very comfortable, so it depends if you want a shock absorbing handle or the hard handle materials on the Bark River.

Fit and finish on the Swamp Rat will be very good, but is sometimes variable (from what I’ve seen) on Bark River knives.

The no questions warranty is another plus for the Swamp Rat.

The proprietary heat treat on the SR101 turns 52100 into incredibly tough, sharp, and durable steel. A2 can be great when Chris Reeve or Dave Shirley does it, but is generally not as good as SR101.

Both knives are nice, but I’d buy the Rat.
