Hey guys!

Is there a pictorial of the different Buck pocket knife box progressions?

I'm wanting to know which box goes with what year pocket knife.

If not, I'll wait till I get organized and post a pic to see if you guys know the years the boxes were used.

I thought perhaps though there may be a resource for it though. I've a couple 700 series knives I'd like to find correct boxes for so I watch for empties to pop up.

Thanks! Joe

We started a box thread a few years ago. I've already shut my computer down for the night or I would find it for you. Will do tomorrow if you don't find it first.

Your best bet is to post good pictures of the knives, including tang. I have a pretty good collection of boxed knives to compare to. I'm sure there are others on here that have the same. Within the group on this forum we should be able to match up most anything. 700 series boxes were pretty specific so a generic box thread is not going to help you.

Makael - were you referring to the thread Stumps provided. Good thread. Wish all the pics were still there. Perhaps one day if I'm feeling extra ambitious, I might try to gather pics together for a box sticky.

people keep the boxes?!? Amazing. :)

When I was still in the service, I tended not to keep boxes just simply because we moved so often and generally our govt housing tended to be on the small side. But since retiring from that, I've kept boxes for most knife buys.

I figure when my wife and kids have the estate sale, they may sell better with the box...lol.

Look at how many people collect .22 LR boxes, myself, among many others. Some are quite expensive for an old .22 box. Seems just about no matter what it is, people somewhere collect it. Fishing lures still NIB are a huge collectable.

So far I've kept them all. About 30 I think

Yes, people keep the boxes. The highest dollar collectable Buck knife will have all its included papers and the original box. It will be spoken and written about as a NIB (New In the Box). Several folks here likely have 50 year old boxes to go with the knives. 110s that is.....Boxes are carefully stored, sometimes with the knives, sometimes without, its up to how you store your knives.....No matter, a good method of ID should be created to keep track of your collection and ID what you have. I did write a short newsletter article for the BCCI newsletter on some methods to ID and organize your collections. .Someone else can tell what boxes I have photographed.......300Bucks

Above, I believe the bottom box is the oldest and the date code on top paper is 1972.

This one by Larry Oden has some basic box info

An old co worker once told me that when in the service... 3 moves = a fire.
Your stuff doesn't survive.
