Hello fellow Buck nuts. Which box is the older one?

I think it is the top one.
Thanks!

I'm with you on that. I have a 501 "Esquire" from '84 or earlier with a box just like the top one. I also have a 501 "Squire" that was made after they changed the name in '85 and it's box is like the bottom one.

Plum I figured you would be the one to give the answer. The wait continues for a more diffinitve answer.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that but here's a picture. The top box is for a 501 Squire made no later than 1984. The middle box contains a 503 Prince made in 1986 and the bottom box contains a 701 Bronco made in 1990. It seems pretty well defined to me which is the older box.

I don't know why I said that. Lack of sleep I guess.
Here is another question. Is there an older style box?

I'm with Dave, I know I have a box for a 301 Schrade contracted knife, circa '68 and it is similar to the pic on top, it being a bit whiter and has the texture of an orange peel.

I am with Matt on this one I have a 301 from around 68 with the same box.

I guess I should post some pics of the knives in them. I think the knife in the top box is not a Schrade. Both are at work so I guess I have to wait a few days:(

That would be a great idea (pictures). Do you mean that the knife in the top box isn't a "Schrade" or that it's not a "Buck" built under contract by Schrade?

It's a Buck 301. I don't think it's a Schrade build. I'll get some pics up later in the week.

I received this Buck 301 (made by Camillus) for my birthday on 11/24/70, shown here with the original box - the faded sticker marks the retail price as $15.00.

Buck used the two piece boxes thru the 2 dot 110 model. The 3 dots being transition and I have 4 dot models which utilized the one piece boxes. So, during that time they went to that box. DM
