Which Bump or just get a DOMINATOR ?

Well the more I look the more confused I get. I like the Bump series in general but I'm drawn to the Camillus Dominator too.

Here's where it gets confusing, other than the coated blade and the Sandvik steel is there any difference between the Spec/Speed Bump and the regular Spec Bump. I don't mean the one with the molded handle (Speed Bump), I'm talking about the one with the uncoated Sandvik blade and the 3D G10 scales. I ask because it looks the same but costs about 35-50 dollars less than the Spec Bump.

Thomas... if you see this.... is this the knife that is supposed to be a limited production model? If it is I might get this while they're still available.

But I can get a Dominator with the Tanto blade for $140.00 shipped...

Any opinions on these....

As best I can tell, the pseudo bump and spec bump are identical with exception to the steel and blade coating. Remember that the handles are identicial to the first generation Spec Bumps though, not the new texture S30V ones.

Don't forget to look into the higher end Bumps either...i have a Blue Bump and I love it. I'm getting a Pseudo Bump just because I don't really want to abuse my 170 dollar knife, but I love it so much I carry it every other day or so...so the pseudo bump will sub in. Great deal.

And yes, I do believe the pseudo bump is a limited edition.

I LOVE my dominator.
Sorry, I don't have experience with the Bump, but I think the dominator is one of the best production bargains of all time.

JPD1998, Art again is correct with his breakdown of the different Bumps.

I agree that the Pseudo LE Bump is quite a deal.

I EDC my Dominator more than any other knife. Cuts nice, feels good in the hand and carries well in the pocket. Only thing I had to do was put blue loctite on the pivot screw because it was always coming loose. Also some tiny chips on blade from use but does not affect performance.

Thanks for the help....

I'm sort of on the fence with the blue ( Ti) bump, sometimes I think it looks cool and other times I'm not sure. I think it's one of those things where I really have to see it .

Unfortunately most of my purchases are mail order, for some reason I can get a sense of size and texture from pictures of the Spec Bump, I can't with the ti bumps.

The web site I'm shopping on has the green or blue bump for $6.00 more than the Dominator.

Now I'm more undecided....

Thanks Thomas

BTW I just got an Avalanche, perfect size, high quality fit and finish. That's why I usually end up buying a Kershaw product.

I used to think the Blue Bump looked good sometimes, and goofy other times. Then I saw AM's review of the Blue Bump which had a picture of it from PVK. Unless this picture makes it look better than real life, the knife does look good in real life and pictures do not do it justice. Here's Blue and Green:

These pictures are what convinced me to get a titanium Bump first instead of a Spec Bump (which I will get down the line). since I already have quite a few large black G-10 tactical knives, the Blue Bump will add a little more variety to my collection.

Personally, of the Bumps, I'd rather have the Spec Bump than the dominator, but that has a LOT to do with my interest in the stud-lock. I got a chance to play with a custom Onion version of a stud-lock knife and was VERY impressed. It just has a level of quality about it that pics can't capture.

Of course, instead of the Spec Bump I'd rather save a bit longer and get the Offset. Good luck in your choice!!!

The Blue/Green Bumps look great...the photos can't show you one really important aspect to their beauty, even that fantastic one--that the anadozing changes color at different angles quite noticeably....my blue bump turns purple at a lot of angles...very cool effect.

Really, they're a bit like Spydercos, in that you really have to have some time to adjust to their stylings, but at some point, you realize just how beautiful it is...to me, the Blue/Green Bump is the ultimate production KO...it just shouts KOness at every little spot.

Of course, I've seen some of the custom ones, and whoa. Really though, when I carry my Blue Bump, I feel like I'm carrying a custom--there's just nothing quite like it.

I'll try and get access to a camera and I can take a ton of photos for you.

Guys,

Thanks for the information on the Ti Bumps.

Hair - those pictures are much better than the typical website photos, thanks.....

I'm leaning to either the Ti or the Spec / Speed Bump.

Well I couldn't let go of the Dominator so I ordered that and the Speed / Spec Bump. I figured the price was right for both and the Speed / Spec Bump might not be around for long.

Thanks to all for the input.

I'll add one more vote for the bump/spec bump. I like framelocks well cuz i do, and I dont care as much for the lock on the spec-bump. But I do like the blade style.
