Which bushcraft fixed knife: Condor Bushlore or RealSteel Bushcraft?

Hi,

I decided to replace my Hultafors GK as my forest knife. I need a sturdy knife for my car and I've never liked the too steep curve of the blade towards the tip anyway, so - into the trunk the GK goes ... :-)

My requirements are
- budget friendly (USD 100 tops, less is much better ... and I should say "Czech USD100" :-) as this stuff is quite more expensive here - ie. Condor Bushlore USD43 and RealSteel Bushcraft USD55 on Amazon, either of them USD74 here after conversion)
- scandi grind - I see it as the easiest for sharpening; I sharpen my knives but I'm not too good enough at it (yet, hopefully)
- spear-point shape best (easier for me to sharpen), drop-point second best
- carbon/stainless - I don't really care (I'm inexperienced in the materials field, I've read a few articles so I have a general idea, but I have for example AUS8, SK5 and Victorinox blades and for my needs I see no important difference between those steels)
- blade around 4"
- full tang
- I don't like that kind of plastic scales ie. the Hultafors (and perhaps some Moras?) has, wooden handle is preferred but not necessary, Micarta or G10 are more than fine
- sheath the knife won't fall out of OR easy to obtain compatible sheath

So, I ended up with Condor Bushlore (primary pro: spear-point, I really like that shape since I got my first Victorinox) and Real Steel Bushcraft II (primary pro: D2 steel seems to be nice, many knife makers here use it for their quite expensive knives). Both knives cost exactly the same here in Czech Republic (cca CZK1640 = USD74, 30.7.2017 for future reference LOL).

I've seen many (mainly) Youtube reviews on both these knives, all quite enthusiastic, and right now I'm more inclined to buy the RS Bushcraft II. What's your opinion, please?

I just posted about this in another thread earlier today. Check out the Marttiini Lappinleuku knives. There are multipe versions: various sizes and handle details. Some have cross-guards. All come with nice leather sheaths. Prices should be well under $100.

The Bushcraft should hold an edge longer, but will be harder to sharpen. Have a Kabar Becker BK-24 (D2) and it is a royal pain in the butt to sharpen and I'm never satisfied. On the other hand, I have a number of Bob Dozier blades (D2) and like them a lot. I honestly carry the Mini Bushlore more than the Bushlore. But I think it's over priced and obviously too small to be a real bushcraft blade. I'm not pushing either blade and it depends on your sharpening skills.

Been wanting a Kephart (but better than the Condor version which I own) which is along the same lines as your thinking. Been drolling over the new LT Wright design priced at about $240 USD (Gen 6 Larry Roberts model). It is just a tad long, but we're only talking about a half inch (or about a cm or two).

If you are in Czech Rep. Save up a little money and talk with Jakub at Gollik knives. You could have an awesome custom knife with a great sheath for 150 USD, maybe less. He is in Prague, an you would probably get knives from him cheaper than we do in the US. I just put in an order with him, all I hear is great things about his knives. Definitely worth a look.

Of those choices I'd go with the condor simply cause it will be easier to sharpen. D2 is a pain to sharpen in the best of circumstances
